Chapter 2: Quit Lying

Here is why this chapter hit me so hard and I believe is worth our time.

“…the degree to which we live in truth is the degree to which we are free. When we lie in certain areas of our life, we shackle and chain ourselves, restricting the freedom Christ has won for us” (EHW, Scazzero, 50). Not only do I want to honor all that Christ claimed for me on the cross, but God himself is ultimately truth and if I lie to myself, to others, or to God I am excluding God from my life!

Be courageous and dig into this chapter allowing the Lord to examine your heart and mind and show you where you are not living in freedom and truth!

Extra Resources:

1. If you listened to the whole Brene Brown/Oprah Super Soul Conversation you heard this already but just in case listen here again at 21:19. She talks about how authenticity isn’t a one time decision but a moment by moment decision that whole hearted people make over and over again.

2. Check out this post on 4 questions that can help you authentically connect with others. If you liked that post this one has a fuller explanation of why and how to use them in our relationship with the Lord.

3. Here is a sermon on Acts 5, Ananias and Sapphira. Goes along with this topic perfectly!

I am a wife, a mom, a sister, a daughter, a friend, and intimidated by making a short summary of myself. I am an Enneagram 2. I have a heart for discipleship. My favorite thing is to walk alongside of someone as they take courageous steps in their life.
